About the Cast (in order of appearance)
Dan Coyle, raised in an Irish Catholic household in central Ohio, first became aware of the value of storytelling in the confession booth. A lifelong English major and frequent audience member at SpeakeasyDC, he finds himself on its stage for the first time tonight. Be kind to him–he’s old.
Elizabeth McCain is a spiritual counselor and interfaith minister who loves listening to her clients’ stories and helping them manifest their dreams. Right now she’s hoping to manifest a dream of her own: to sell out her first solo show, “Southern Comfort: A Lesbian Belle’s True Stories,” on April 7 at The Mead Theatre Lab. Please buy tix at mautnerproject.org to make her feel mighty.
Elissa Laura is a native Washingtonian who loves scuba diving, Yanni, and pugs. One of her stories, “Backseat Driver,” was made into an award-winning film in the first-ever SpeakeasyShorts competition. She is trying to believe in life after love.
Mikael Johnson is ecstatic to be in his first SpeakeasyDC ensemble show after performing in two 2nd Tuesday shows. He’s been doing improv comedy in DC for 8 years and currently performs in a 2-person show called “ShawnMikael(s)”. When he is not spending his nights performing or his days working in a psychiatric hospital, you can find him in his new Virginia residence with Amy, the inspiration for his story.
Mike Baireuther has been a sucker for love ever since he got in trouble for passing love notes to his girlfriend during 3rd grade English class. He’s been a storyteller for 3 years, getting his start in Atlanta before moving to DC and crushing hard for SpeakeasyDC. Special thanks to his fiancée Molly for helping him with all his stories and for putting up with him in general.
Callie Wright is a true virgin to the storytelling stage, which feels oh-so-right, as she’s also a first-year teacher and first-year graduate student. When she’s not at school, she can usually be found dancing alone in her living room to Tina Turner’s “Simply The Best,” tweeting about Maggie Smith, or spilling red wine on herself. She is also currently trying to bring back the solo earring.
Cindy Kane is a stay-at-home mom and author of Bad Mommy Moments: Celebrating the Days of New Motherhood that Suck. When not chasing kids, wrangling dogs, and blogging at badmommymoments.com, Cindy spends all of her waking minutes wooing her lucky husband.
Mike Kane is a television producer and storyteller. He lives across the river in Arlington with his wife and two daughters. He questions the manhood of a fella that would tell a story about love, feelings, and/or relationships.
About the director
Stephanie Garibaldi began directing Sucker for Love back in 2009, because she was tired of having nothing fun to do on Valentine’s Day. By now, she’s fallen for the show and wonderful casts for so many more reasons beyond relieving the horrible “no-date-again?” pressure. A true sucker from way back, she’s now a newlywed, having married in 2012 for the third and hopefully last time.
